FRIENDS OF A L B A N Y R U R A L C E M E T E R Y

Incorporated April 2, 1841, the Albany Rural Cemetery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the most beautiful and historic cemeteries in the United States. It is still an active cemetery, serving the needs of Capital Region families in many ways, (see cemetery services page). The 467 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds include the burial plots of many distinguished national and local dignitaries. A President of the United States is joined by 5 Governors, 3 members of the Continental Congress, 3 members of the Philadelphia Constitutional Convention, 13 members of the Colonial Assembly, 8 Presidential Cabinet members, 5 Ambassadors, 5 U.S. Senators, 29 U.S.Congressmen and numerous Judges, as well as 55 Mayors of the City of Albany.

Due to the increased public interest in the history, beauty, events, and family services that Albany rural offers; we have formed the FRIENDS OF ALBANY RURAL CEMETERY, to promote and perpetuate the beauty and rich history of Albany Rural Cemetery. We hope to encourage public involvement with the ongoing development at the cemetery.
